D4vd is running out of money fast, and his family’s financial moves are making that crystal clear.
His father, Dawud Burke, sold a three-bedroom home in Houston, Texas, for $229,000 in early July, and, according to TMZ, he also took out a loan around the same time.

The 21-year-old singer known for “Romantic Homicide” just lost his high-powered legal team on Monday, and now he’s being represented by a public defender in one of the most serious cases imaginable.

D4vd faces first-degree murder charges in the death of 14-year-old Celeste Rivas Hernandez, whose dismembered body was found in the trunk of his Tesla in September 2025.
The prosecutors say D4vd killed Celeste to silence her after she threatened to expose details that would end his career, and they’ve laid out forensic evidence including DNA, text messages, and purchase records showing he bought chainsaws and other tools after her death.
He’s also charged with sexual abuse of a child under 14, unlawful mutilation of human remains, murder for financial gain, and murder of a witness.
These aren’t small charges.
If convicted, he’s looking at life in prison without parole or the death penalty, depending on whether prosecutors decide to pursue capital punishment.
The special circumstances allegations tied to financial gain make him eligible for execution.
Defending charges this serious typically costs millions of dollars. High-profile murder cases routinely run between $1 million and $5 million in legal fees alone.

D4vd’s family clearly couldn’t keep up with those costs, which is why his attorneys withdrew and he’s now relying on the public defender system.
According to ABC News, D4vd pleaded not guilty during Monday’s hearing, but the evidence presented by prosecutors at the preliminary hearing painted a detailed picture of the alleged crime.
His trial is set to begin within 90 days.
