Exclusive Look: Pics Of Snoop Dogg Receiving Long Beach’s Highest Honor

Check out exclusive images of Snoop Dogg’s hometown celebration.

Snoop Dogg transformed Long Beach into the center of Hip-Hop culture on June 6 as the rap icon opened the city’s new amphitheater, accepted the Key to the City and delivered a career-spanning performance that doubled as a celebration of his legacy.

The hometown event served as far more than a concert. It became a civic and cultural showcase that honored one of Long Beach’s most recognizable figures while introducing the Long Beach Amphitheater with a production designed around the story of Snoop’s rise from local artist to global superstar.

Snoop guided attendees through different chapters of his career. The production unfolded like a feature film, tracing his journey from his emergence as Snoop Doggy Dogg with Dr. Dre at Death Row Records, through his successful tenure at No Limit Records and into his evolution as a business mogul.

The setlist mirrored that progression.

Fans were treated to classics from his Death Row era, including “Gin and Juice,” “Nuthin’ but a ‘G’ Thang” and “2 of Amerikaz Most Wanted.” The performance later shifted into selections from his No Limit years, including “Lay Low” and “Down 4 My N’s,” before arriving at crossover hits such as “Drop It Like It’s Hot,” “California Gurls” and “Young, Wild & Free.”

Headlines were made over an AI-generated cinematic exchange between Snoop and Tupac Shakur. The segment connected past and present through Hip-Hop history. The creative use of technology also highlighted Snoop’s willingness to embrace emerging tools, amid continued controversy.

More than 25 mayors from across the nation attended the event at Snoop’s invitation while participating in a mayors convention taking place in Long Beach. Long Beach Mayor Rex Richardson presented Snoop with the Key to the City, recognizing his contributions as an entertainer, entrepreneur and community leader.

Reflecting on the honor, Snoop said it had been “a long time coming” and expressed appreciation that the recognition arrived at this stage of his life and career.

The moment underscored the bond between the artist and the city that helped shape him.

Artists including Compton AV and O.T. Genasis also appeared during the celebration, helping bridge generations of West Coast talent.

It was a tribute to a hometown hero whose influence stretches far beyond music, a city embracing one of its most famous sons of Long Beach.
