Western animation fans used to love Gravity Falls back in the day. The show’s been gone for just over a decade, but there’s still a hunger for more of it, which should be partially fed by an art book that fans have spent years hoping for.
Over the weekend, creator Alex Hirsch announced the tome, which comes with the standard art book contents such as character and world designs, insight from Hirsch and other key creatives. (Were you keeping track of Mabel’s sweaters on the show? Whether or not you were, this book certainly is.) Readers can also expect to see scrapped episode ideas and jokes that had to be cut from the show, plus a foreword from esteemed animator James Baxter, who animated part of the show’s intro sequence and two episodes.

Gravity Falls has had a gradual presence in books during and after the show’s run, with the most recent being 2024’s The Book of Bill. There, Hirsch and a collection artists—several of whom, like Emmy Cicierga and Joe Pitt, worked on the show—told the show’s events from the perspective of its triangle-shaped villain Bill Cipher, and shed insight into his origin and what happened to him after he was beaten in the series finale.
This art book should make a fine addition to the collection of Gravity Falls fans when it releases on September 15 and they can pore over its many details and hunt for its “deviously hidden easter eggs” to check for any hint at future events.
