Suge Knight’s recorded interview reveals Diddy allegedly paid for Tupac’s murder through intermediary Eric Von Zip in 1996.
A secret phone call with Suge Knight just dropped and now an allegation that just won’t go away about who really bankrolled Tupac’s murder back in 1996 is in play again.
In a March 2024 interview with an investigator, the Death Row Records founder made it crystal clear he knew exactly who put up the money, even though he danced around naming names directly.
When asked straight up who paid to have Tupac killed, Knight responded with a laugh: “He’s a dancing dude, the guy who’s going around raping everybody right now.”
That wasn’t subtle, and everyone in the courtroom knew exactly who he meant.

The “dancing dude” reference pointed directly at Diddy, who’s currently serving time in federal prison after his conviction on prostitution-related charges.
According to the Review-Journal, prosecutors presented evidence during the Keefe D trial showing that Diddy allegedly put up $1 million through an intermediary named Eric Von Zip to have both Tupac and Suge killed.
The money was allegedly supposed to go to Keefe D as payment for orchestrating the hit, but Von Zip reportedly kept the cash for himself instead of passing it along.
Knight confirmed during the interview that Keefe D was involved in the shooting, but he refused to testify at trial.
When the investigator pressed him about whether money was the real reason Tupac died, Knight’s answer was definitive: “If money didn’t change hands, it never would have happened.”
That statement carries serious weight because Nevada has no statute of limitations on murder, meaning prosecutors could potentially charge anyone else involved if they gather enough evidence.
The legal implications are massive.
Diddy’s already locked up for the prostitution convictions, but this recording opens the door for investigators to explore whether additional charges could be filed.
Diddy was sentenced in October 2025 to 50 months in prison, and he’s scheduled to be released in 2028.
Keefe D was convicted of first-degree murder on August 31, 2026, and his sentencing hearing is scheduled for October 13, 2026, where he faces life in prison without the possibility of parole.
